While the names are similar, Sea World and Sea World Foundation are Australian organisations operated by Village Roadshow Theme Parks. We’re not connected with SeaWorld in the United States of America or United Arab Emirates and have never cared for killer whales (orca) or beluga whales.

All donations to the Sea World Foundation over $2 are tax deductible. All online donations receive an automatic tax invoice via email.

Sea World Foundation is on call 365 days a year. If you have seen a marine animal in distress, please phone our 24/7 Wildlife Rescue Hotline on 07 5588 2222 (9:00 am to 5:00 pm) or 07 5588 2177 (After Hours).

Our aims are to support local and global marine conservation issues however we consider our priorities are those that fall within our local area. In an ideal world we would like for there to be no culling of sharks in Australia and around the world however, this is not a reality. We understand the pressure on governments to protect swimmers through the use of shark control programs.

We continue our rescue operations to save dolphins, whales and turtles that become entrapped within the shark control programs, along with working with the authoritative agencies to research improved methods which will lessen the impact on our marine life. We have also recently partnered with the Queensland Government with their SharkSmart program installed in park to educate our guests on how to remain SharkSmart in the water and the new technologies being used to monitor sharks and keep people safe.

If you’ve spotted a strange or fascinating plant or animal, we encourage you to share your observation with iNaturalist — their AI tool can suggest the most likely species and your contribution can help support vital research and conservation efforts. For specimens in Queensland, the Queensland Museum Ask an Expert service can also provide taxonomic guidance.

Thanks for offering to help out! Unfortunately we do not have a work experience or internship program. You may benefit from contacting volunteeringaustralia.org. This organisation will be able to assist in pairing your interests with available positions.

Thanks for offering to help out! Our rescue team consists of highly trained, paid staff that are on call 24hrs a day, 365 days a year. We do not have volunteer placements, however if you would like to become involved in volunteer marine animal rescue please contact ORRCA (Organisation for the Rescue and Research of Cetaceans in Australia).

Currently, Sea World Foundation does not offer sponsorship for events or conferences.
